Laboratory technician at the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine, Federico II Unversity of Naples.
He first specialised in the set up of biochemical techniques for the measurement of membrane ion transport, including the kinetics of Na/H exchange, Na/Li countertransport, Na/K/Cl cotransport, Na/K pump and ouabain binding in several cellular models. His activity has later focussed on the exploitation of fluorimetric and spectrophometric techniques, the use of ELISA for the measurement of plasma concentration of adipose tissue cytokines and on the set up of methods for genetic epidemiology (including DNA preparation, PCR and the investigation of RFL polymorphisms).
His research activity has been concerned with the study of biological, physiological and genetic aspects of aterosclerosis, hypertension and obesity.
He has contributed to a large number of scientific publications in international peer-reviewed journals.
