Gianvincenzo Barba is Researcher at Institute of Food Sciences, National Research Council of Italy. Physician, graduated at the “Federico II” University of Naples Medical School, post-graduated in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. Master of Science in Genetic Epidemiology at the University of Pavia.
He was Research Fellow of at the Department of Clinical Medicine of the Federico II University of Naples Medical School and at Centre of Clinical Pharmacology of University College of London, UK.
Adjunct professor at the Postgraduate School in Internal Medicine of the Federico II University of Naples Medical School.
Member of Italian Society of Hypertension, London Society of Hypertension and of Italian Society of Nutrition. He is involved in international collaborative studies:Tte IMMIDIET project (EC Fifth Framework Programme, QLK1-2000-100) and IDEFICSstudy (EC Sixth Framework Programme FOOD-CT-2006-016181-2).
His scientific activity focuses are the study of clinical and epidemiological aspects cardiovascular disease, metabolic disorders and renal sodium handling, effects of dietary sodium intake on antihypertensive drug efficacy, dietary prevention of arterial hypertension, salt-sensitivity of blood pressure, hypertension and insulin resistance, genetics of hypertension, childhood obesity.
Dr. Barba is author of many scientific publications on peer reviewed journals.
