His scientific activity focuses are the study of clinical and epidemiological aspects cardiovascular disease, metabolic disorders and renal sodium handling, effects of dietary sodium intake on antihypertensive drug efficacy, dietary prevention of arterial hypertension, salt-sensitivity of blood pressure, hypertension and insulin resistance, genetics of hypertension, childhood obesity.
Dr. Barba is author of many scientific publications on peer reviewed journals.
