Dr Paola Russo is Researcher and Responsible of the Risk polymorphism genetic lab (SNPs lab) of the Epidemiology and Population Genetic Unit, Institute of Food Sciences, National Research Council of Italy, Avellino, Italy
She graduated in Biological Sciences Degree “Federico II” University of Naples in 1983.
The research activity of dr. Russo primarily pursues the study of the interactions between nutritional and genetic factors in the pathogenesis, prevention and treatment of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. In the risk polymorphism genetic lab (SNPs lab), we recently identified genetic variants associated with arterial hypertension, altered renal sodium handling and obesity.
She is member of Italian Society of Arterial Hypertension. She was involved in several collaborative international studies: The Olivetti Prospective Heart Study; The Wandsworth Heart and Stroke Study; The IMMIDIET project (EC Fifth Framework Programme, QLK1-2000-100)
The IDEFICS project (EC Sixth Framework Programme, 016181-2).
Dr. Russo is author of about 40 scientific publications on peer reviewed journals.
