Post-doctoral student in Experimental Medicine and Clinical Pathophysiology at the Federico II University Medical School in Naples, where he graduated and completed his training as an Internist in 2002. He was Research Fellow at the St. George’s Hospital Medical School in London in 2003.
His scientific activity focuses on the clinical and epidemiological aspects of cardiovascular disease, the effects of dietary sodium intake on antihypertensive drug efficacy, dietary prevention of arterial hypertension, salt-sensitivity of blood pressure, hypertension and insulin resistance, genetics of hypertension and metabolic disorders and renal sodium handling and metabolic disorders.

Dr. Barbato is author of several publications in international scientific journals.
